BOB ODEN - A member of the Aspen Hall of Fame, Dr. Bob Oden is remembered as “one of the kindest, most beloved physicians in Aspen.” His stories of generosity and compassion could fill many books, as he extended the principles of the Hippocratic Oath to every aspect of his life. He founded Orthopaedic Associates of Aspen and played a key role in creating many other local institutions. Dr. Oden established the resort’s first local orthopaedic practice, which was also the first clinic of its kind on the Western Slope. He was a founding APEHI board member who helped secure funding for Hunter Longhouse.
HERMAN EDEL - was a writer who published The Pavlac Legacy, Red Horse Radish, Taormina, and The White Gospel Singer. He founded music production companies in New York, London, and Los Angeles. Herman hosted and produced the PBS musical theater radio show On With the Show for over 17 years. Herman was a founding board member who secured funding for Hunter Longhouse. He and his family lived in Aspen from 1972 to 1985, during which time he served two terms as the mayor of Aspen. He and his wife, Mardie, later made their home in Ashland, OR. Herman passed away in August 2021, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of creativity, leadership, and community service.
BILL CLARK - was an attorney in Aspen and a founding board member who secured funding for HLH. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and earned his law degree from the University of Colorado in 1959. Bill and his wife moved to Aspen, where he practiced law for 40 years. A dedicated public servant, he was a founding member of the Aspen Pitkin Employee Housing Board and served on the Pitkin County Airport Authority. Bill also served on the Board of Directors of the Aspen Snowmass Council of the Arts. He found joy in family, music, travel, and the outdoors.
